Avocado

Native to Central Mexico,(Persea americana), also known as the ‘aligator pear’, is an endurance athlete staple from the fruit family. You hear people talk about ‘good fats’? Monounsaturated fats? Those are what are in an avocado, and a good amount, too. 67% of the fruit’s energy comes from fat – not typical for a plant – so vegetarians take note. Fat is an important part of a balanced diet, as well as a fuel source for you body once you’ve burned through your carbs on a long workout.

And, of course, when you think of avocado, you think of guacamole.  We’ve got you covered with this Exotic Guacamole recipe from Rose Marry Jarry.
