It’s an exciting time here at Spartan Race.
Today is the most important holiday in the Christian calendar year. It’s a holiday that celebrates rising above pain and finding transcendance and peace through extreme suffering. It’s a holiday that offers images of rebirth and new beginning for everyone, no matter what happened in the past–today, the slate is wiped clean. Nature renews herself every year. Why don’t we?
Just think about the image of the Easter egg. An egg is not just a great source of protein for athletes. It’s a tiny organism filled with potential energy. Give it a chance, and it will transform itself into something far different that what meets the eye. Like every human being: give them a chance, and they’ll surprise you. You can surprise yourself. You will find a strength you didn’t know you had and draw on inner resources you’ve never accessed before. That’s what Spartan Races are about.
So, forget your winter sloth, the hours on the couch with TV and Oreos. Forgive yourself and get out there. Get started. Can the pain of training take you beyond itself, to a place inside you that you can’t find from watching TV and stuffing your face?
Find out for yourself. And let us know on the blog.
Congratulations are due to Hobie Call, who won yesterday’s Super Spartan Race in Miami, finishing in only 59 minutes and 13 seconds. This man is still on track to take home $100,000 from Spartan Race. Can anyone get in his way?
And congratulations to all of our Spartans who raced in Miami yesterday. Check out all of the finishing times here.
Now put down that chocolate egg and get ready for next week’s Atlanta race! Do you think you can beat Niki Kenney?
