Spartan Race is coming to Hawaii for the first time this Sunday, August 17th. The Hawaii Spartan Sprint will take place on the main island, O’ahu. The venue will be Kualoa Ranch a 4,000 acre working ranch spread from the steep mountain cliffs to the sparkling sea. It is located on the northeastern side of Oʻahu in the Hawaiian countryside. The ranch terrain varies from dense rainforest to broad open valleys and from beautiful white sand beaches to verdant cliff faces. It has been the site of many television shows and Hollywood films such as Jurassic Park, Windtalkers, Pearl Harbor, Godzilla, Tears of the Sun and 50 First Dates. TV shows including the old and new Hawaii Five-O, Magnum P.I. and LOST. Now it can add Spartan Race to its hall of fame.
Who will be heading to Hawaii? Some of the Spartan Pro Team will be there including Alexander Nicholas and Christopher Rutz. Also joining them will be Stephen Sinek, aka The Painted Warrior. We hear he has a very unique body paint planned for the event. We are also expecting some of the top athletes from the islands and mainland to join them for this inaugural event. Oh, and word has it that Spartan Race co-founder Joe De Sena will also be there to make sure the event is the hardest Spartan Sprint to date.
The Hawaii race organizers have been busy over the past few months preparing not only the event but the registered racers as well. There have been weekly WODs and organized training runs and hikes to help the athletes prepare for the challenge that is awaiting them on Saturday. It is sure to be one of the most unique Spartan Race experiences to date. You can still register and book a flight to be a part of the first Spartan Race in Hawaii.
